Operation Oliver!
It is with great sadness that I write about the loss of Oliver.Oliver had his operation and a very large cyst was removed from what should have been a kidney. Oliver seemed to be recovering well but a few days later he became ill. Despite the very best of efforts by Barbara Jones and her team at Oakwood Veterinary Centre we just couldn't save Oliver. His remaining kidney stopped functioning so the very heartbreaking decision was made to end his suffering.I was with Oliver at the end and when I rubbed some Angelica Root Oil (known as the Oil of the Angels) on Oliver's head he started purring - that lovely deep throated purr that I had grown to love! It was as if Oliver knew what was happening and was grateful. It was very touching moment! Oliver closed his eyes and went to sleep.Oliver is now back home at the Cattery and is buried under the willow tree. We planted some bulbs on Oliver's grave so in the spring lovely flowers will greet all who visit the Cattery.I only knew Oliver for a few months but he was (and will always be) a very special cat!I brought an Olive Tree (known as The Peace Tree) in Oliver's memory as it felt right somehow. I will never forget this beautiful, comical, playful and brave little cat. May He Rest In Peace.I would like to THANK everyone who brought raffle tickets or made donations towards 'Operation Oliver'.The raffle was a great success as it allowed Oliver to have the best treatment available. The outcome was not what I had hoped for but at least we tried our very best. Some things are just not meant to be!There is a little money left that will go to The Old Cat People.Early next year I will be organising a Cat Photographic Competition to raise money for The Old Cat People.
